Nevermore?

Well, I guess Edgar Allen Poe is rolling over in his grave, as the team named after one of his short stories, "The Raven," got eliminated from the playoff hunt for a bid in The Super Bowl. Ray Lewis was questioned after the game, and before the reporters could ask the question he said, "I'm still hungry and no I am not retiring before you even ask the question!"

It was a hard fought game that came down to a field goal in the last few seconds to tie the New England Patriots and go into overtime. They played a team most people thought would take an easy win over the Ravens and played right down to a nail biting finish.

Ray Rice was heard saying that they are a team of 53 players and didn't want anyone hating his kicker that missed that final field goal. A replay did show that the seam on the football was not lined up with the posts when he kicked it, so the blame could go to the hiker or holder, but all in all they lost as a team seeing an opportunity for a touchdown was bobbled and stripped for a touchdown earlier.

Pass the buck, ah, it's for real, Baltimore is out and fate is to blame. I will refrain from bashing the kicker as the team did show their presence for 64 full minutes of the game. It is too bad for the kicker as that miss could very well cost him his job. That kind of reminds me of the question as to why the Philadelphia Eagles let their place kicker David Ackers go when he could boot a 60 yard field goal?

Moving along to the second game, another close game that was decided in sudden death playoff overtime. Again, this was another close game all the way. I must admit that I did fall asleep before the overtime started. The last thing I remember was the coin toss, so as for details I'm a bit short on the play by play in overtime that resulted in a win for the New York Giants.

Yeah, I was wrong on both my calls. I must say the only game that wasn't a contest from start to finish in the playoffs was The New England Patriots game against the Denver Broncos that did turn into a walk away for New England. Every other game in the playoffs could have went either way making for some games that are just what football is all about.

Why talk about the weather when you can't do anything about it? Because I can : ) This is three straight days of rain all day, supposed to have a two day break then a couple more days of rain. I'm not complaining because I'd rather have rain than snow any day. However, poor Woody just doesn't understand why I don't want to go outside and play fetch with him, I have just a small yard and it's a mess out there. His feet are dirty enough when he comes in without me tracking in more.

It's going to be a long two weeks until the Super Bowl. I do have my appointment with the new DR. on Wednesday. I guess I'll be rooting for the N.Y. Giants in the Super Bowl as they are in the same divison as my favorite team the Philadelphia Eagles.

That's aLL Folks! Have a great week. Peace and Happiness

I didn't watch the games but for some reason Mr. Monkey Butt turned it on to see who would win in that game with NY. I'm so lost on that stuff sometimes. Maybe one day when I have more time to watch sports...Yea no that prolly wont happen either. I'm hating the rain and mud and yuck we are having as well, but like you,I will take that over snow, ice and slush any day! I wish there was some where that Max could even play. Other than in the house, that will just have to be enough. he's small :) Happy Monday!

I think the first mistake was going for that fourth and yards instead of the 50+ field goal. That told the kicker that they had no confidence in him at all.
