Friday The 13th/Weekend Football Picks

The bar graph above says about all the status quo and big money controlling government and media that anyone needs to know.

Well, I'm not superstitious so it's just another day here in the hood for me. Poor ole Joran Van der Sloot got 28 years for pleading guilty of murder of a young Peruvian woman. Natalie Holloway, this woman, how can you not wonder how many times he's done that and gotten away with it?

The sentence does sound light for murder, however 28 years in a Peruvian jail probably has him wishing he got a death sentence, and we can't rule that out at some point during his stay at that nasty prison hole.

I'm going to make my picks for this weekend's week two playoff games. I was going to pick one upset game, but I've backed down from thinking Houston beats Baltimore in Baltimore.

OK
*New Orleans Saints at the San Francisco '49'ers, I'm taking the Saints!
*Denver Bronco's at New England Patriots, I'm taking the Patriots!
*Houston Texans at the Baltimore Ravens, I'm taking the Raven's against my first instinct!
*New York Giants at Green Bay Packers, I'm picking the Packers to take this game!

When I worked as the chef of Waterman's Cove in the '80's and '90's we used to get some football pools to gamble on, and some of us had side bets on our own favorite teams. Some bets where made with points, some straight up. Hell the Indianapolis Colts where so bad after they moved from Baltimore that I gave this one kid Joey (he was about 19) the Colts and gave him 28 points, that's like giving him a four touch down head start and I still cleaned his clock that year. He liked Minnesota and Indianapolis for his two favorite teams and both where at low points in their existence. Lucky for me : )

My favorite team is the Philadelphia Eagles for some good reasons. I was born in Baltimore so I grew up a Baltimore Colts fan, Johnny U Yehaw! Then the owner of the team packed them up in the middle of the night and moved the team to Indiana. If you grew up way back in the day before all the divisions, I mean I was a Colts fan, how was I to be a Redskin fan? If you were from Baltimore we didn't play that, I was a man without a team! I had to make the call and I liked to be different, weren't many Eagles fans here back in the day of Randal Cunningham, Reggie White, Jerome Brown and Clyde Simmons and so the pick was done.

Everyone knows about my great love for animals, when I heard the Eagles picked up Micheal Vick my stomach had a sick feeling. I had to get over that, the man served 2 years in a federal prison, has changed his ways, talks to youth about such behavior(dog fighting) and is very generous to the ASPCA. I can't be that man's judge or just up and hate my team, now if he was found to do anything, even smacking a dog he'd be off my list of people to root for, I couldn't even root for the Eagles if they didn't drop him like a bad habit!

I don't like just hopping on the band wagon stuff, however when you are playing with points, you gotta go with who you think can make that point spread. Way back I did quite well betting on football. The year Joe Montana and Dan Marino locked heads in the Super Bowl, San Francisco '49er's VS the Miami Dolphins I jumped on the '49er's and road that wagon all the way to the end. That was a very good year $$$ Ching Ching However to do that kind of betting you need to be watching football or TV programs about all the games 24/7 to be on top of which teams had key players injured and all that crap. Can't run like Dat no Mo~!

I always say, "I rather be lucky than good," LoL Peace Out!

Yes dear, it is election year. You still have ten months to make up your mind. I would just suggest for now to stay away from anyone with an "O" in their name. LoL It's going to get ugly, enjoy : /

It's funny how my team favorites have changed over the years. Since my family is from Washington D.C., it is Redskins (and Senators). I never liked the Colts when they were in Baltimore, except for a period in the 1970s when Bert Jones was QBing.
I am not a fan of the Ravens.
I rooted for the Pirates in 1971; yet by 1979, I bled orange and black. Go figure?

Didn't know you were a blogger. Interesting topics. Great music, especially "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens. Hope I can find your site again. EL
